I do think it's important to support young people who have worked so hard, and I am always happy when one of ours has won gold, silver or bronze. But, I have a problem with China this year....first, all that lead paint! Seems like they were infecting our children's toys with it on purpose! Then, I find out that those "green" lightbulbs they keep pushing on us that are so toxic when broken, are made in China. More conspiracy!? To top it all off, the news that thousands of people were displaced out of their homes in China so they could build Olympic structures (without any monetary compensation) I found really abhorrent! One vision of a poor elderly person sitting, crying in a wheelchair on the sidewalk stays with me! I felt like we should just be boycotting the Olympics over that! Instead, we are pumping money into their government by being there...and where are those poor people? Living in a gutter? It makes me sick. I didn't even watch the opening ceremonies, which I heard were amazing. I just didn't want5 any part of it. Yet, our kids, who worked their patooties off the last four years deserve their chance. Something needs to be done about all the stuff we have being made in China, though. It needs to stop. He has no idea of the political aspect, it's just kids diving into a swimming pool, or playing volleyball. So, it's entertainment for him and any entertainment that he enjoys I go with it. Keeps him quiet for awhile and I can do my own thing. Like enjoy your blogs. Your children are precious. I just don't know how you do it... with God's guidance I am sure.Latane Bartonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01745676377589651275noreply@blogger.com
