I have the answer. It's not all the tv and video games, it's the bus driver's fault!
Yep!
Today I had the unfortunate timing that landed me right behind the neighborhood school bus. This bus, I kid you not, stopped at every other house.
Why, on earth, did these children need to be let off right at their houses? I didn't notice anyone limping. Just 3 separate children being let off right in front of their houses.
When I was a kid (boy does that make me sound old!), we walked all the way around the block to the other side to get to the bus stop. If we weren't on time, TOUGH.
Anyway! Just thought y'all would want to know that it isn't junk food, it isn't tv, it isn't video games...it's the bus driver's fault! ;)
And before anyone rants at me, I will say that if my children were in public schools AND riding one of those lovely monstrosities known as a school bus, I would be thrilled if my children were dropped at my door - for their safety's sake. If they weren't, I'd be one of those moms who walks to the bus stop and waits for my children. So, I guess it's not all that bad that they're getting dropped at their doors...just made for some interesting reminiscing today as I waited....and waited...and worked the braked in the minivan repeatedly...and well, you get the point.

Ok...so when I lived in Texas a few years ago Halloween was a cold night maybe 60 degrees or so...cold for TX right. Anyway, there was a little space between houses (room for 1 house to be built between houses) and parents were driving their kids from house to house. The kids were too lazy to walk house to house. It was terrible. I could not believe it.
Now I grew up in Ohio and we went trick or treating when it was really cold, when it snowed. We just wore our winter coat and walked the whole 2 hours.

That's so sad! I have seen that being done when it was raining - we just didn't get out if the "elements" were too rough (up in TN).
Ah well!
I agree with you--I'd be all for dropping them off at my door, too! My daughter drives our grandson to school....doesn't even trust him taking the bus! We live in such a different world from when I used to walk to school every day--in the snow, up hill, both ways :-)(It really was in the snow in the winter in Md and up hill--but not up hill both ways!)
